Your plain-language guide to Pakistan's government services

Getting a CNIC renewed, making a B-Form for your child, renewing a passport, checking BISP 8171 eligibility or becoming an FBR filer should not take a whole day of asking people in queues. The official portals exist, but the information is spread across many websites, written in formal language and often changes without notice. Life Explained puts each procedure on a single page: what the service is, who needs it, the exact documents, the latest fee, the step-by-step process online and at the office, and how to track your application.

Always apply and pay on the official website or app. Bookmark these instead of searching every time — scam sites often copy government names and ask for fees that are not real.

1. Official source first. Fees, deadlines and eligibility are taken from the department's own website, app or public notification.
2. Real process, step by step. Steps are written the way you will actually see them in the app or at the counter, including common mistakes that cause rejections.
3. Visible update date. Each guide shows when it was last checked. If you find something outdated, send us a message and we will correct it.
4. No personal data. We never ask for your CNIC, OTP or passwords, and we do not run "check your status" forms that collect them.

Online or at the office — which is better?

For most people, the online route is now faster. Smart CNIC renewal, B-Form, FRC and passport renewal can all be completed on a phone, and the documents are delivered to your address. Visiting an office is still the better choice if your data needs correction, if biometric verification fails repeatedly on your phone, if you are applying for a first CNIC, or if you are not comfortable paying online.
